Moxy was contracted to assist with the Bloomberg Executive Africa Forum held in February 2014 at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg, hosted by Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg LP and 108th Mayor of the City of New York. The Forum explored Africa’s dynamic economies and compelling growth stories and brought together influencers from across the continent, among them South African President Jacob Zuma.
Moxy assisted with the content development and management function, as well as with the identification and development of topics and selection of speakers. Moxy also acted as the interface between the media and stakeholders, liaising with President Jacob Zuma’s office, Gill Marcus (Governor of the Reserve Bank) and the Securities Exchange in Nigeria.
Moxy continues its work with Bloomberg LP in the form of round table and panel discussions, which are held with thought leaders and figures such as the Minister of Finance.
Samantha Henkeman, Moxy founder and director, presses home that it’s not just about the conversations that happen at the event, but also what takes place before and after.
“It’s not only about getting the media out, it’s about understanding the content, understanding the impact of the content, and identifying the most appropriate platforms where the content can be placed.” She continues, “It’s about sustaining the conversations in meaningful ways, so not just a once-off. The most important channels in getting your message out are the people within the organisation and the networks that surround it. So it’s about proper engagement and about identifying all the organisations that think the way you do.”
